Cell Phone Recycling

Troop:        40237

What issue did your Take Action project address?
Recycling and proper disposal of cell phones

What was your Take Action Project? Who did you involve in your project?
We worked with Flipswap. 5 of the 10 girls (Nicole, Allie, Rachel, Phair and Taylor) in the troop made collection boxes and were placed at various locations around town which were posted in the newspaper.

What were the results? How did it affect the community?
We collected 75 phones! It made people aware that phones should not just be thrown away since there are toxins that can impact the environment. Flipswap also plants a tree for every phone you recycle! That's 75 trees!

What did you learn from the experience?
That all recycling and proper disposal is important especially things like batteries, cell phones & computer equipment which not only fill up the landfills but may contaminate them as well.
