Comfort Kits for Disaster Victims

Troop:        60850

What issue did your Take Action project address?
People who are hit by a natural disaster like Hurricane Sandy typically don't have a plan and are left in shelters without any comforts of home.

What was your Take Action Project? Who did you involve in your project?
We collected items to create Comfort Kits for the Red Cross to distribute to people who have been displaced from their homes by a disaster.

What were the results? How did it affect the community?
The girls were able to work with town emergency planners to see how help people in our own community with kits. Also we could see first hand how the towns plan in case of a natural disaster like the recent hurricane and blizzard.

What did you learn from the experience?
The girls not only help comfort people when they are displaced from their homes but they learn how to prepare for themselves. Each girl put together a kit for themselves and created ones for their families.
