Blankets that warm the heart

Posted by:   Amy on Aug 29, 2012
Town:         Stamford
Troop:        50368

What issue did your Take Action project address?
Children in the hospital. My sister was hospitalized for 10 weeks. While she was in the hospital she was given a blanket. The blanket was more to her than just a warm blanket. She used it to keep her head and arms safe while in her wheel chair and bed.

What was your Take Action Project? Who did you involve in your project?
Our project was to make blankets for the children in the Yale New Haven Pediatric ICU. My troop and some of the parents all got together to help make blankets. We also posted on the Stamford Girl Scout Facebook page asking troops to join in our mission.

What were the results? How did it affect the community?
girls from other troop made blankets and in total we were able to donate 15 blankets to Yale.

What did you learn from the experience?
That helping others isn't a chore and that when you do it as group with other friends it can actually be fun. Delivering the blankets to Yale Children's Hospital felt good.
