Adult ProgramJourney to Gold – Building the Foundation
This workshop is for adults who are supporting girls in their road to Gold using the “new Jou
ey way”. Topics covered include: important dates & definitions, working with Jou eys, take action projects vs. community service, community & mind mapping. What the terms "sustainable", "global" "measurable" and "share" mean in terms of the new Gold, and the new standards of excellence that are expected in "new jou ey way" Gold Award Take Action Projects. We will also discuss your role as a Troop Advisor during this process and ways of recognizing girls when they complete the Gold Award. This workshop is not intended for girls. Fee: $5. • Teach adult Girl Scout volunteers so they can go back and teach the girls

TrainingOut and About
Course length: 3 hours Fee: none
Out and About prepares volunteers to take girls on field trips beyond their meeting places and that are four hours or more in length. These trips may include, but are not limited to, trips to the zoo, museums, and/or simple hikes. It also prepares volunteers to take the girls on ove
ights inside a building that has an automated heat source, electricity and running water. Topics will include health and safety, progression in the outdoors, simple hiking guidelines, and indoor food preparation. Cost: None Out and About training needs to be completed at least two (2) months prior to a trips longer than four hours. This allows volunteers to teach the girls how to prepare for their trip. Please note: This course does not include any outdoor cooking or fireplace cooking techniques. Consider taking Fire, Food and Fun for fire building and simple outdoor cooking. * This course is also available as a: • Computer driven course (TR12400) - The computer-driven course is a PowerPoint presentation and worksheet that once completed needs to be retu ed to Girl Scouts of Connecticut, via email, for review. See course directions for specifics. • Self-study (TR12401) - The self-study course utilizes the Out and About materials including a worksheet that once completed, needs to be retu ed to Girl Scouts of Connecticut for review. Camping Adventures
Course length 27 hours. Fee $10.00. Allows girls and volunteers to expand their horizons and move out of buildings and into the outdoors. It is the third step in outdoor training. This course includes a three hour planning session followed by a 24 hour ove
ight experience. Attendance at both the planning session and weekend is required. Participants need to attend the planning session that is associated with their weekend. Please note: Shared cost of food and supplies will be determined during the planning session. The new Live Healthy, Lead Healthy patch program focuses on nutrition, fitness and stress reduction, and encourages girls to spread their knowledge thorough a take action project. Girl Scout volunteers and Girl Scout Seniors and Ambassadors are invited to this free training to learn the new materials and participate in some of the activities. Girlz R.U.L.E.® (Respect, Understand, Lead, Empower) is an anti-bullying program designed for girls. Girl Scouts of Connecticut has developed this signature initiative and preparations are underway to expand its reach throughout the state. Volunteers are needed to facilitate this program to girls in grades three through eight, which may be offered during school hours, immediately after school, or in one-day workshops or events.
There is no cost for this training. Light refreshments will be served throughout the day, bring a lunch and covered mug. Please contact Hannah Granfield to register for one of these trainings at HGranfield@gsofct.org or (203) 239-2922 ext. 3309.

The new Live Healthy, Lead Healthy patch program focuses on nutrition, fitness and stress reduction, and encourages girls to spread their knowledge thorough a take action project. Girl Scout volunteers and Girl Scout Seniors and Ambassadors are invited to this free training to learn the new materials and participate in some of the activities. Please register with Hannah Granfield at HGranfield@gsofct.org or (203) 239-2922 ext. 3309 two weeks in advance for each training. There is a maximum limit of 20 spaces at each training. Healthy Snacks will be provided at each training. These trainings are made possible due to the generous funding from Aetna.

Try your hand at snap circuits, mix and match green construction materials, track your food’s energy travel, calculate your carbon footprint, and much more!

Join the Quinnipiac Womens Hockey Team for fun filled afternoon as they take on rival Dartmouth. Following the game, meet your favorite Women Bobcats for a post game skate. Please bring or borrow ice skates. Girl members can attend for free if they are in Girl Scout uniform. Ticket prices are $1.00 per person if accompanied by a Girl Scout.
