Girl Scouts of Connecticut To Honor Anika Noni Rose

Girl Scouts of Connecticut is pleased to announce that the Woman of Merit honoree for 2010 is Bloomfield native and Broadway and film actress, Anika Noni Rose. A dinner celebrating Ms. Rose will be Wednesday, June 9 from 5:30 -   8:30 pm at the Hartford Marriott Downtown. The event is supported by Aetna, Comcast, Travelers, and ING.

Girl Scouts of Connecticut is known and respected for helping girls develop uncommon leadership and life skills that serve the common good. Despite a very demanding career, Woman of Merit Honoree, Anika Noni Rose, has stayed true to her Girl Scout roots by displaying courage, confidence, and character in her professional and personal life. Her high standards and recognizable accomplishments make her a great role model for Girl Scouts across Connecticut.

Other corporations supporting Girl Scouts of Connecticut and acknowledging Anika Noni Rose's contributions to her industry and her community include: Fairview Capital Partners, New Alliance, Newman's Own Foundation, Webster, and Westchester Modular Homes of Fairfield County, Inc., as well as Bank of America, CIGNA, Fiserv, Hartford Courant, The Hartford Financial Services, Hartford Steam Boiler, QSP, and University of Hartford.

Friends and supporters are invited to join this ceremonial Girl Scout evening of fun while supporting Girl Scouting's personal and leadership development programs for young women. Net proceeds from the Dinner will support enrichment, educational, recreational, and personal development programs that help girls in grades K - 12 bring out the best in themselves and their communities.  The Girl Scout Leadership Experience offers girls the lifetime skills they need to discover their personal best; connect with others to build healthy relationships; and take action in their communities to make the world a better place.
