Girl Scouts Welcomes All Girls in Grades K & 1February 16, 2010
It's not too late to sign up as a Daisy Girl Scout It may still be winter, but Daisies are popping up all over Connecticut! Don't miss your chance to join them! Girls in Kindergarten and first grade are making new friends, doing arts & crafts, and exploring the world around them. Become a Girl Scout Daisy today and join the fun! Daisies are the first level in Girl Scouting where girls discover themselves and the world around them, connect with others locally and globally, and take action to make the world a better place. Trained Leaders offer age specific activities that foster learning in a caring and thoughtful way. As a Daisy Girl Scout, girls earn Daisy Petals through "hands-on" educational activities. The colorful petals include a light blue petal for being honest and fair, purple for respect of self and others, yellow for friendly and helpful, and so on. Daisies will also learn the basics of Girl Scouting through games and role play, work with their Leader to make decisions about their Troop, and interact with their community through service projects such as making get well cards for the sick. As you open the door for the girl in your life to discover all of what Girl Scouts has to offer, consider joining the Girl Scout movement yourself. Volunteering a bit of your time or becoming a Troop Leader can make a big difference. It is also a great way to spend quality time with your special girl!
