Connecticut Girl Scouts Meet the da Vinci
May 5, 2009- This Saturday, May 9, twenty Girl Scouts will have the unique opportunity to test drive the advanced surgical robot, the da Vinci at Yale-New Haven Hospital. The da Vinci Surgical system is a sophisticated robotic platform designed to enhance a surgeon's capabilities to offer minimally invasive surgery. The Girl Scouts, in grades 9-12, will have the chance to observe and operate the robot, tour the operating room, take part in a laparoscopic demonstration, and learn about careers in medicine during the afternoon workshop. This program is part of a statewide initiative dedicated to the development of girls in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).
For further information on the event contact Ellyn Savard of Girl Scouts of Connecticut at 800-922-2770 ext. 3018 or esavard@gsofct.org.
