Connecticut Girl Scouts Meet the da Vinci

May 5, 2009- This Saturday, May 9, twenty Girl Scouts will have the unique opportunity to test drive the advanced surgical robot, the da Vinci at Yale-New Haven Hospital. The da Vinci Surgical system is a sophisticated robotic platform designed to enhance a surgeon's capabilities to offer minimally invasive surgery.  The Girl Scouts, in grades 9-12, will have the chance to observe and operate the robot, tour the operating room, take part in a laparoscopic demonstration, and learn about careers in medicine during the afternoon workshop.

This program is part of a statewide initiative dedicated to the development of girls in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).
