11th Annual Breakfast Badge Girl Scouts of Connecticut

December 5, 2007

Community Leader Honored at Breakfast December 7th

November 26, 2007 — Girl Scouts of Connecticut will honor Community Leader and Entrepreneur Diane Alverio at the 11th Annual Breakfast Badge Awards to take place on Friday December 7, 2007 from 8:00 – 10:00 a.m. at the Hartford Club. Over 200 people are expected to attend the event to acknowledge this inspiring leader and to support Girl Scouting’s personal and leadership development programs for young women. A $75 ticket gains entry to this special breakfast loaded with intriguing opportunities.

Diane Alverio is the owner of D. Alverio & Co., a public relations and marketing firm with offices located in Hartford. When Diane isn’t running her high capacity PR firm, serving clients ranging from local non profit organizations to health care agencies, she serves on various boards such as the Latino Roundtable, the Community Foundation of Greater New Britain and the Hospital of Central Connecticut. Diane is also the President of the Board of Directors of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists and actively writes for the Hartford Courant and CT Lawyer Magazine. In addition, Alverio is a Girl Scout Volunteer and a Girl Scout Leader to two Girl Scout troops.

Alverio has been recognized with numerous regional and National awards, including City of Hartford 2006 – Commission on the Status of Women, Hispanic Business Magazine – 100 Most Influential Hispanics in the U.S., and Progresso Latino Fund – Community Foundation of Greater New Haven.

The event will support traditional and innovative programs delivered by dedicated volunteers and professional staff that offer Girls Scouts in grades K through 12 enrichment, educational, recreational, and life-skill activities. These programs help girls prepare themselves for the challenges of today and the future by instilling positive values, building leadership skills, and developing self-esteem.

To support this fundraiser, community members are invited to attend the event. For more information or for tickets, contact Nicole Jennette, Special Events Coordinator, at 860-522-0163, x226, or NJennette@gsofct.org.
