Girl Scouts of Connecticut partners with Read to Grow to support Week of the Young Child

March 29, 2011

Girl Scouts of Connecticut and Read to Grow, Inc. are conducting a state wide book drive in support of this year’s Week of the Young Child.  From April 11-14, Girl Scouts of Connecticut will be accepting new and gently used books at seven of their Service Centers across the state. Read to Grow, Inc. will pick up the books and distribute them to Connecticut’s children in need and to the programs that serve them.

The theme for this year’s Week of the Young Child is Early Years are Learning Years and Girl Scouts of Connecticut understands the importance of establishing an early foundation for success in children today. We are proud to partner with organizations like Read to Grow, Inc., that help us fulfill our mission of building girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place.

The greatest need is for infant and toddler board books but all gently used children’s book donations in good condition may be made at the following locations from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. April 11-14:

Hartford: 340 Washington Street        Torrington: 663 East Main Street
