Girl Scouts of Connecticut
Home  |  Contact

Since 1912, Girl Scouts has helped Connecticut's girls build courage, confidence and character. While we have always remained true to Juliette Gordon Low's vision, we are constantly evolving. That's why we say we're 100 years young! Join us, and see how Girl Scouts discover themselves as they explore their world, connect with others and take action through activities and programs that are relevant and exciting to girls today.

GIRL SCOUT EXHIBIT OPEN NOW AT
CT HISTORICAL SOCIETY MUSEUM!

Growing up in Girl Scouts
Open now until August 6!
We have worked with the Connecticut Historical Society to present Growing up in Girl Scouts, including Girl Scout memorabilia and items on loan from our own GSOFCT Historical Museum. As part of the exhibit, we've created a fun scavenger hunt for Girl Scouts! You can pick up the paperwork at the front desk, or print it out here before you go. See the museum's website for hours and admission prices.

SUMMER SHOULD BE CAREFREE!

All children are impacted by their surroundings. At Girl Scouts of Connecticut, we simply believe in trying to level the playing field by letting every girl who wants to attend camp do so, regardless of her family’s life circumstance. Last year we were able to offset the camp costs for 430 girls from every corner of the state. Help us send more girls to camp this year, by giving to the Campership Fund.

UPCOMING GIRL PROGRAMS

 Adventure Programs at Pattagansett

These programs are all held at Camp Pattagansett in East Lyme. For more information, contact Victoria Eisenhauer at veisenhauer@gsofct.org or Jeanette Barrows at jbarrows@gsofct.org.

Climbing for Chickens
Adventure parks, indoor ropes courses, zip line canopy tours, and rock climbing gyms are popping up all over the place. People don't seem to be afraid of heights anymore. Are you missing out on the fun due to your fears? Are you tired of being the designated photographer? Have you ever wished you could have a place to try climbing without the noise, stress or pressure from those who don't understand how afraid you are? Your wish has come true. This program is only for those who really struggle with their fear and want more time and techniques to overcome it. Discover your inner squirrel as you make new friends who will support and encourage you along the way.
For Juniors: July 19, 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. (Register by June 26)
For Cadettes, Seniors, and Ambassadors: August 13, 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. (Register by July 24)

Science Behind Climbing
For girls who have climbed before and are curious about how it all works. This program helps them understand the mechanics of friction, leverage, and weigh ratios. Girls will get a closer look at the gear and techniques that keep them safe as they climb, and even learn to belay each other as a group.
For Juniors: July 19, 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. (Register by July 4)
For Cadettes, Seniors, and Ambassadors: July 19, 1:00-4:00 p.m. (Register by July 4)

A Series of Unfortunate Events
Life doesn't always go smoothly. We all face unfortunate events from time to time, so how do we turn a bad situation into a memorable adventure? Practice your real-life survival skills with a variety of unlikely (and somewhat imaginary) circumstances on our low ropes course at Camp Pattagansett. You might be abducted by drooling aliens, get stranded in a forest packed with poison ivy, or need to find your way out of a jungle after losing your eyesight. You might be surprised at what you can overcome when you take on life's challenges with the help of your friends!
For Juniors:  July 26, 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. (Register by July 10)
For Cadettes, Seniors, and Ambassadors: 1:00-4:00 p.m. (Register by July 10)

Get hands-on with STEM at Camp Sikorsky! Camp out with other Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts in front of Sikorsky Aircraft in Stratford, and take part in fun workshops like Aviation, Inventing, Search and Rescue, Crime Prevention, and more, all taught by professionals. Boston Day Trip

Get on the bus and ship up to Boston on September 10! Begin the day at the New England Aquarium, then grab lunch and explore Quincy Market with your group. Regroup in the afternoon for a Boston Harbor Cruise Tour. We will stop for dinner on the way home (meals not included in price). For Cadettes, Seniors, Ambassadors, and Adults. $100 per person, $50 due at registration. Use this form to register by August 10. For more information, contact Nancy Bajek at nbajek@gsofct.org
