Deadline Date 3/26/2014. Prerequisite Fire, Food, & Fun. Part One: Planning Session -Wednesday 4/2/2014 6:30pm-9:30pm at the Cherry Brook Health Center. Part Two: Overnight Session Saturday, 4/12/2014 10:00am to Sunday, 4/13/2014 10:00am at Yankee Trails Program Center. Attendance at both the indicated Planning Session and the associated Weekend is required for certification. Camping Adventures prepares volunteers to take girls overnight camping and cooking in the outdoors. Camping Adventures needs to be completed two (2) months prior to camping in a backyard, platform tent, shelter, cabin, or lean-to, doing simple outdoor cooking (i.e., one-pot meals and Dutch oven cooking, or use of a portable stove), using wood fires, doing outdoor food preparation, outdoor dishwashing. There is a $15 registration fee. Additional costs of food and supplies will be determined at the Planning Session.

This course includes a planning session 4/2/14 6:30pm-9:30pm and a weekend training from 4/12/2014 at 10:00am through 4/13/2014 at 10:00am. The planning session will be held at the Cherry Brook Health Center, 102 Dyer Avenue, Canton. The overnight session will be held at Yankee Trails Program Center, 343 Plains Road in Tolland, CT. Topics will include progression in camping, outdoor food preparation, sleeping in the outdoors, and how to pack. Be ready to work, learn, laugh and EAT! Camping Adventures needs to be completed two (2) months prior to participating in a camporee, camping in a backyard, platform tent, shelter, cabin, or lean-to, doing simple outdoor cooking (i.e., one-pot meals and Dutch oven cooking, or use of a portable stove), using wood fires, doing outdoor food preparation, and outdoor dishwashing. * Prerequisite -Fire, Food and Fun Attendance is required at both the Planning Session and the associated Weekend for all taking training. Course length: Planning session - 3 hours, Weekend - 24 hours. There is a $15.00 registration fee for Camping Adventures. Additional costs of food and supplies will be determined at the planning session. Things to bring: Flashligh for the meeting at a program center. You will create the packing list for the overnight session at the planning session.
