Does anyone remember a Brownie Troop in 1971-72 in West Haven? Posted: Jun 30, 2010
I currently live in Gales Ferry and I am a leader for my daughter's troop, who are bridging to Cadettes soon.
Being a leader has awakened my inner Girl Scout!! I was a Brownie for one year in 2nd grade in West Havem, 1971-72 who met at Noble Elem school. Does anyone have any info or memory from that year?
I remember a lot of things we did that year, but do not know our troop number nor do I remember having a vest, selling cookies or getting patches. We put on a play of Snow White and I was Sneezy, (and forgot to sneeze thru the entore skit)
We went to the Ice Capades and then ice skating on a separate trip, father daughter bowling, made sit-upons, the Promise out of macaroni alphabets glued to styrafoam trays, and I also recall a trip to day camp for the day by bus. Perhaps it was a Camporee? Does anyone know where?
Now that my daughter is finishing her 4th year of scouting and has attended camporees and a week long day camp at various GS camps, and currently her first resident camp at Laurel, I am curious to know if I ever went to one. If my forner leaders or former Brownies are out there and know any details, I'd love to know!!
We moved after 2nd grade but I joined Juniors in 4th grade in San Deigo, CA (We camped next to the zoo!) and I was a Cadette all 3 yrs in Orlando, Fla.
