I grew up in Westbrook Village, Hartford, CT. I attended Northwest-Jones School and Weaver High School. As a Brownie I was in Mrs. Goldberg's and Mrs Brenner's Brownie Girl Scout Troop. Mrs Brenner continued on after the first year and we met in the basement of Northwest Jones School. I moved up into Mrs Kennedy's Intermediate and Cadette Girl Scout Troop. As a Senior Girl Scout I was a member of troop 16 with Mrs. Phillips. Girl Scouting provided a place to soar and achieve. I loved wearing my uniform to school and being part of the activities. I helped to plant daffodils to celebrate the 50th anniversary and was lucky enough to participate with 2 of my daughters in Washington, DC for the 75th Anniversary. My granddaughter and my daughter will be attending the 100th Anniversary this year. My mother joined Girl Scouts in Hartford at the age of 12. Mom is 96 years old and we still have her uniform complete with whistle, patrol leader cord, belt, hat and neckerchief. I loved learning nature in Keney Park and participating in camp at Camp Alice Merritt and Camp Mary Dean Vreeland. I was lucky to be a Counselor in Training at Merritt. Thank you Girl Scouts.
