Girl Scout Memories

Food Drive Community Service
Posted: Nov 1, 2013
On a rainy Sunday in October, 11 Avon Girl Scout troops with class ages ranging from 1st grade to high school, collected food and other needed items from patrons of Stop & Shop in Simsbury to re-stock the shelves of Gifts of Love in Avon. Altogether, the girls and adult volunteers collected 2 pickup truck loads of donations and over $1000 in monetary contributions for Gifts of Love to distribute to needy people in the Farmington Valley area. The Girl Scouts of Avon are gratified to perform community service projects and plan to do more in the future as a service unit.
