Carrie Brian Earns Gold
Posted: Apr 17, 2013
Carrie Brian decided to take a creative approach to her Gold Award. She had always been interested in the arts, and she wanted to choose a project that reflected her interests. Carrie is currently taking advanced art classes at Ridgefield High School and decided to focus on photography. She knew that the Carver Center in Norwalk had many interesting after-school and summer programs, but they did not have a photography program; they did not have any digital cameras for the children to use. So, Carrie sold old clothes to raise funds and held a camera drive. Now the center has 10 digital cameras (and batteries and memory cards). For her Gold Award, she developed and led a week-long photography program. Her lesson plans, cameras, the students' art (permanent photo gallery in the gym) and an inspirational video are now developed and available for future use at the Center. She accomplished her goal of providing positive and life-long skills as a positive outlet to express creativity.
